RENT AND/OR UTILITY ASSISTANCE

 WHO QUALIFIES?

HOW CAN WE HELP?

The coronavirus pandemic has impacted the lives of the residents of the city of Dallas, especially those who do not have financial security. Dallas is experiencing a high unemployment rate of about 15 percent. Families who haven't had to ask for emergency help to pay rent, mortgages, utilities or food assistance are looking to non-profit organizations in their community that they can trust. Dallas Rental Assistance Collaborative (DRAC) is our solution for the community.

Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and while we are committed to processing all applications to the extent funds are available, demand is very high, so please be patient.

Completing the application does not guarantee that you will receive a call for the next stage. Please review all information carefully before applying.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Do I need a photo ID to apply?
You do need to provide some form of formal photo identification. It does not have to be a Texas ID or license. Other forms of name and photo ID are accepted, such as a passport, any government-issued ID, school ID, a library card with your photo, etc.

What documents do I need to provide?
You need copies of the following documents:

  • Proof of income, if applicable (unemployment benefits, paycheck stubs, TANF, etc.)
  • Proof of occupancy for all household members
  • Copy of your current lease and a notice of delay or eviction or proof of other circumstances

Will non-citizens who do not have all required eligibility documentation be able to apply for COVID-19 emergency mortgage or rental assistance programs?
Yes, undocumented individuals who may not have a US or Texas ID are also eligible to apply at any of the participating organizations.

Will I receive the money directly?
No, the money will be paid directly to the landlord for rental assistance or utility provider. Your landlord, mortgage company or service provider must be willing to accept payment from any of the participating organizations on your behalf.

Will I have to return the money in the future?
No. The assistance is a grant, not a loan.

Where do I apply?
All the organizations mentioned above have their respective link to their pre-selection requirements and applications. You can study all of them, but apply only to one since duplicate applications will not be accepted.

I am a landlord or utility provider, how will I receive my money?

Our staff will contact you by email or at the phone number your client provides once they have been approved for this grant. Payment will be processed within 2-3 weeks.
